Invaluable resources that helped us chose our e-Reader, set them up, etc:

  • The Unquiet Library  This LibGuide page, set up by Buffy Hamilton and her staff, has been invaluable to us when researching how to add an e-Reader to the collection, even though she chose Kindles.
  • The Adventures of Library Girl   This blog of the Adventures of Library Girl has a three part blog posting about how her library purchased and integrated Nooks into her collection.
  • Marianslibrary Blog Use the search engine at this blog to search for Kindles to find out how Kathy Parker purchased and handled her Kindle additions to the media center. I adapted, with her permission, the permission slip she used for her students.

  • Edukindle: Kindle for Educators  LOVE this site, even though it is geared for Kindle users. It is full of information.
  • Kindle, Nook (and More!)Educators Ning   Join this Ning for free, and join a variety of discussions on using e-Readers--Nooks, Kindles, iPads, etc. Participate in live webinars, or watch past webinars that have been archived. This resource is a must join!
  • New York Times e-Reader article  This article covers the increased sales of e-Books and e-Readers to the teen market.

Parent Permission form adapted from Kathy Parker with her permission.  NookPermissionandAcceptableUseForm.doc

We made two videos about our experience!
